I got to see Tim’s line up in Chicago. This line is super nice and incredibly thin & light! I bet they are amazing cutters.

Thanks Garrick! These are about as light as a knife this size can come, the handles are stained natural maple and extremely light so you still get a pinch grip balance. The handles are also removable, I wanted these knives to be tailored for the guys/gals who might want to use their own handles and get into working on their own knives. These blades do not need thinning by any means but they are great candidates for someone who wanted to try a mirror polish or other finishes.

I am shipping my last of these blades out to a client who is waiting on a custom from me. Ive got a bit of inventory now so anyone who is waiting on a custom is always welcome to use one of my basic knives while you wait.

Anyway, back to the knives at hand:

Last night I made quick work of some mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions with one of these knives. The geometry I put on these knives works very well. For a laser style, these knives are not that sticky. Anything that sticks will come off with a gentle flick. The tip is thin but sturdy, you do not have to baby it but you can julienne with ease. The only aspect I was not pleased with was the actual edge. I had done a full progression up to 10K and the edge seemed to lose its' bite a bit too soon. Tonight I am going to try a more coarse edge with a quick strop. If you have been wanting to try a knife of this size in well heat treated AEBL, dont miss out on one of these!

Is that a distressed one piece handle? Very interesting.

Yes, one piece maple handles. The dye I use does not penetrate very deep. some of my final sanding was done after they were dyed and oil was applied. Next batch I am trying some aqua fortis instead of dye.

These knives ar eno longer going to be on the CKTG store but they are still being offered! Ive got a section of my website under construction for this stuff.

I am ditching the removable handle idea and going forward with permanently affixed curly maple octagon handles , with traditional finish.

Stay tuned: http://timothyjohnsonknives.com/blackstoneknife/
