Thanks. I thought it looked like an Itou but assumed it had been rehandled.

That spacer work is phenomenal!

I always liked these in 270mm. Wish I would have kept one around.

What material did they use for the black pins? I've thought of just filling with black epoxy for smaller pin holes, but that looks super slick.

I don’t know if this is what was used, but I have black micarta rods from McMaster. I have used it as pin material on a handle that will be heading home soon.

I've used black carbon fiber pins before. They work similar to micartas. Im guessing that's g10 maybe?

Beautiful handle Steve! I have a couple from that same maker I need to share, impeccable work.

Correct, the pins are G10. I didn’t wanna use micarta because I wanted there to be a little bit of shine, and I also wasn’t a fan of the layers that micarta would show. I do like micarta, but it wouldn’t have been the right choice for what I was going for aesthetically. I was initially planning on using black buffalo horn for the pins, but that would have entailed turning them down on a lathe, which Lucas does not have.

G10 is nice for pins; Micarta pins have more of a texture visible to them where the g10 is solid color. Micarta handles get Micarta or G10 pins, depending on colors and other handle materials like wood and G10, I try to use G10 pins.

This is going on my Masamoto. One of my favorite woods karelian birch, skipped the traditional ferrule in lieu of simple mokume caps. I think it highlights the wood better.

I wish, like you I would like to try some, but have not had the required inertia to attempt it.
