One of the things that helped me substantially at the beginning of my sharpening journey was angle guides. If I was ever going to progress at freehand sharpening, I needed to practice correctly and repeatably every time, as to not waste my time.

The slope is tooooo slippery. I've already had to steady my hand 3-4x this week ... "I don't need a honesuki, I don't need...."
