Interesting. If this isn't one of those fake video farm youtube submissions, I suspect it is the citric acid doing the work. Most likely vinegar would work just as well. Again, if this isn't faked somehow.

Seems there are many better options for stopping rust than a little citric acid from a lime. Naval jelly is cheap and proven, for one.

But this is about removing it once it's there, naval jelly wouldn't be of much help there.

Also, if it works citric acid is way more user friendly than phosphoric acid.
