Canada Postal Workers On Strike

Post by ChefKnivesToGo »

This is a problem for us since we use USPS and they're not shipping to Canada until this is resolved. USPS is tied to our shipping rates, so customers are getting notices of refusal to ship.

Back in the 1990s I worked with a librarian who had worked at a library at McGill University in Quebec in the 1980s. He had a friend in Quebec who was on some kind of government subsidy. It wasn't really enough to live on and my coworker sent him money every month. It was always a hit or miss when the money would arrive. Seems the postal workers would go on a slow down (not do anything) during the week. They would then get overtime on the weekend to sort all the mail, that was then delivered Monday and Tuesday. Work stopped after that again and there was no mail delivery till the next Monday. All to get the over time. The mailed checks would often get caught up in that mess and be delayed. At least this time it was announced!

Well, that was what I was told. And I'm sticking to that story.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled forum, in progress.

There is a long history of postal workers in Canada going on strike around Christmas. It seems to be their chief negotiating tactic.

Yes we had to stop waiting for USPS and do a workaround to get the rates to DHL to work. Thanks for posting this!

Once Canada becomes the 51st state, this should no longer be an issue.

Yes, agreed, once that happens, post office strikes will be the least of our worries.

Is this conversation allowed on this forum? If so I have a few things I would like to add.

You make a good point. Political conversations would be right at home in firearms forums, but they feel off topic in a chef knife forum

I probably should have refrained from making the stupid joke that I made. It literally came just moments after reading a headline. My apologies. Mods: feel free to remove it. :(
