Hello all! Some of you follow me on Instagram, and know I have been working on a cross bar locking folding knife. It's my take on a benchmade style lock.
Is there interest from this group? I always assume this is a culinary focused board.
I have been carrying version 35 for over 6 months and made some minor tweaks to the profile. Parts for version 36 aka model A or the angry eye are on order.
If there is interest from this group, I will keep this thread updated.you can see Model A open and closed, along with version 35 with scale options such as stabilized wood, and textured micarta.
Interest in folders?

Re: Interest in folders?
I am interested in all things knife related, I would love to follow along with this project! Making folders is tricky, it is impressive to see one made by hand!
I would be very interested to see the internals of this knife if you could get a disassembled pic at some point.

Every time I see the title I think, "Why is anyone asking about file folders on a knife forum?" Just goes to show you how out of my depth I am around here.
You can blame Mr. Suburban for my being here.

Re: Interest in folders?
Thank you. This was designed by me in CAD, some parts have been laser cut. That efficiency drops the cost, and I can pass that onto the customer.Kekoa wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 11:06 am I am interested in all things knife related, I would love to follow along with this project! Re: Interest in folders?
I know it get's fiercely argued and is subjective, but the cross bar locking is by far my favorite mechanism.
strong and easy to close -- what more can one ask for.
I've had frame locks, front and side autos and slip joints, and always return to the cross bar locking mechanism.
I've never had a compression lock mechanism.

Re: Interest in folders?
I am very much enjoying the cross bar. Frame locks are very done. There are plenty of kits and instructions I could have started from. I enjoy how the frame lock and button lock knives do not put your fingers in the blade path. Maybe it's my adhd, but this knife (and others like it are great figit toys. Here in Mass, until very recently, any spring assisted opening was illegal.Kerneldrop wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:28 pm I know it get's fiercely argued and is subjective, but the cross bar locking is by far my favorite mechanism.
