Love all the pinecone work you're putting out. When I have company over and ask them to pick their favourite knife, they regularly pick the Koishi nakiri with your pinecone handle.

Stabilized ebonized oak. It’s looks similar to bog oak, but it is less expensive and renewable.
Once the stabilized oak is shaped, sanded and polished. It is treated with ebonizing solution. I have one of these handles in my personal collection, they lighten with time.

Bog Oak is oak that has been submerged in bogs for thousands of years, the colors range form grey (2000+ yrs) to black ( 7000+ yrs). It is not renewable or cheap. Some of my clients love it, it certainly has a distinctive personality as far as wood goes, somewhat like a porous non oily ebony. I stabilized knife handle bloc can sell for $40 and up.Insnekamkze86 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 8:35 pm Okay never heard of it before but handle material know age isn't something Ive looked up besides micarta and g10 and pakka wood.
