I jumped down the DE rabbit hole about 2 years ago. Favorite combination at the moment is a Gillette Fatboy 7 / Feather combination for anything above my adam's apple and a less aggressive Gillette BB 3 / Atra for anything below. I use an open comb and Atra first pass if I've gone more than 4 days.
I keep thinking about giving straights a shot but then I usually ask --- Why would I?
So... any answers?
How much of a jump is it going from a DE to a straight?

Re: How much of a jump is it going from a DE to a straight?
I get almost as close of a shave with DE's quicker and with less chance of nicks. The SR took several more passes in harder areas, lots more time, took up extra time honing and stropping. I saved a few SR's and sold over 20 from my collection. DE is much easier! 100 blades lasts me like almost 2 years and costs around $20-$25 usually. I use a Merkur 37C slant IIRC and Super Max Blue Diamond blades currently.
