Here is one I’m very excited about. An integral from Mert in 52100 Sab inspired. Right when I picked this one up in hand, instant love. This one gets about as thin as possible in the front 1/3 and still stays pretty stiff. I put it next to a shibata kashima to give reference. The kashima has one of the thinnest tips around and you can see Mert’s is thinner for a greater area. At the very last part of tips they are extremely close. Tansu on top Kashima on bottom. It’s chunky at the heel.

This just landed- a Kohetsu b2 tall 240 aka Richmond Addict. 56mm tall and 8.08oz (i think the handle is pretty light). Very heavy, blade forward knife. Has a nice taper (width below), kind of Mazaki-ish w/o the crazy thin tip or rust magnet-action. Looking forward to comparing with Mazaki and Matsubara.

~4.2mm over the heel
~2.2mm 50%
~1.2mm about 1cm fm tip.

Something more pedestrian than the typical show and tell. Tojiro dp vg10 180 gyuto.

These are stainless, super thin 1.45mm, light, a bit flexy and ridiculously cheap. Sharp and ready to rock, but could use a strop. See crazy choil shot (next image). Great performance, aside from the flex part. if you're looking for something for low maintenance and low cost of entry, this is calling your name.

I love the taper on this knife, it's very impressive. I love blue steel! My latest is also a Kohetsu blade. 175mm hap40 bunka.https://www.chefknivestogo.com/kohabu17.html.
No taper to is but the tip tapers to a viciously thin point. This hap40 stuff glows! I can't wait to sharpen it, it came ootb with a screaming edge. How about your 240, was it sharp from first jump? I love the tall part, excellent choice! Expecially the steel. Now I want a zdp-189.

Decided to take the plunge and get a CCK 1303 cleaver from CKTG. I ordered the finish sharpening service, and this thing screams through tomatoes! Can’t wait to try it on some other produce!

I thought that this might be interesting to share. My friend from overseas got me a new knife which just arrived today.

Konosuke SLD Nashiji Mirror Gyuto 240, I think this is similar to the Sumiiro but polished.

Gorgeous!!! Did you buy it from Sugi? If so, did they install the handle for you?
