Are Kajiwara blades B#1 of B#2?

Post by FisherMAn1298 »

Hi all, Kajiwara blades are listed in blue #1 steel section but in the description it says blue #2? Anybody who bought one of these let me know. I want to feel how a blue #1 blade feels on the stones.
Any help appreciated as always,
Paul

I have a Kajiwara blue #2 Damascus suji and it's nice at very reasonable price. I can be wrong but think blue #1 Kurouchi is a new addition so maybe Mark forgot to change the description?

IMHO, the heat treatment of blue#1 in Tosa region is quite nice. I have a petty from Zakuri and nakiri from Murata and they can take very keen edge. I haven't tried blue#1 from Kajiwara but it should be similar. It's a great way to try the steel without breaking the bank. Hope this help!

I thought I'd try a number of different steels. Got hap40 last week, love it. Now blue #1, then W#1. Didn't want to gt it and have it be B#2, which I have already.
Thanks so much!

I posted the inconsistency you mentioned regarding the Blue #1 and Blue #2 steels to the typographical errors discussion. Mark responded saying that he fixed it by changing all the Blue #1 to Blue #2. If you go to the pages now they should have the correct steels listed.

Aurrico my friend, you just saved me $100. or at least the time to send it back and get a different knife. I'd probably just kept it and bought another.
Thanks for the info on errors posting. I will take advantage of that when needed.

Sorry about screwing these up.

If you want to try Blue #1 these are a good line that we have been getting for quite some time now.

With the volume of posting and email reply you do, you're batting in the 900's. No worries. I like everything about these but the 165 is a little small. What do you think of https://www.chefknivestogo.com/kabl1gy21.html.

Same smith, different name. They look so close to identical.

Basically, just the handle is different between them.
