I have been gardening with mine and really enjoy using it (and the looks the neighbors give me when I pull it out).

Mine arrived today. Just as the rain starts again, but I'll be ready for the next rain-free spell.

Edited to add, got out today for a few minutes and it is great. Just what I needed. Will take a bit of practice to get the most out of it, but well worth it. Also, I can see how Ken hit his leg with one. Glad I had the warning, as it was close a couple of times.

Oh, Mark, now you need to find someone that makes hori hori knives for gardening. I'd rather buy from you than Amazon.

Ok I’ll ask around and see if any of our blacksmiths make them.

I'm going to add a garden hoe to my little collection of Japanese garden tools. I think we'll get these rather quickly. They're hardened carbon steel.

It appears to be about 34cm in length judging from the photo I got.

The way my lawn has been growing, I may need a big sickle to cut it! Haven't cut it yet because it seems to rain on all of my days off and then sunny the other days, so it's growing like crazy!

These arrived. I'll try and get them on the website tomorrow.

I also have a cool cabbage knife with a holster that I'll get on too.

Here's the cabbage knife. I'm kind of amazed that they hand engraved this one.

Well, if you get it and the hoe, then you're only 5 bucks short of free shipping, so add a Richmond Medium spoon at 6 bucks, and you get free shipping, and Bob's your uncle.

Here is a translation my friend, Dr. O did for us of the meaning on the sticker for the handy hoe.

Here wrote me:

"For your reference, Fuji of the logo Fujishika stands for Mt. Fuji and shika stands for a deer. I attach herewith a copy showing the label, where you will see the details.

Many blacksmiths traditionally like to put this Fuji name in their logo names. I do not know why but many Japanese sickle manufacturers put a shika ( dear ) as part of their logo."

That video has an excellent portion showing how to wash a Japanese knife without shredding your kitchen sponge to bits or cutting yourself! LOL!
