I learned the hard way on that too. My mistake was with a Masamoto KS about 8 yrs ago.

Oomph. Sorry to hear that. Did the treatment ever fade or absorb into the naturally occurring patina?

Same here... forcing a mustard patina is not something I'll do again. Fortunately, a bit of Barkeeper's Friend and some elbow grease got it off.

I used some diamond spray and a felt block and cleaned up the KS. It did a great job but did leave a slightly more polished/shinier finish on the knife but not a big deal.

How did you get the pattern on this knife and what did you use to form it?

I always enjoy these patina photos and this thread has been quiet for a while. Here is my 270mm Masakane SK Gyuto.

Really liking how the coffee patina is holding up on my Yoshimi Bunka. Also, had the recent chance of meeting the man himself and had one of his apprentice custom engrave with my nickname.

I missed this post from three years ago.

My pareidolia kicked on hard on the dishwasher. I see a cartoon rat wearing glasses.

Beautiful blue patina on a gorgeous Manaka blade, Sammie! I'm sure that one puts a smile on your face everytime it's used! :D

It sure does mate. It also makes me wish I had gotten a slightly longer blade, but I love it nonetheless…

Another knife in White 1 made by Ikenami Hamono. I think they go by Tanegashima as well… Not sure what the correct name is. This is after cutting feta cheese and leaving the knife for few minutes…. I had no idea Feta was so acidic..
