It something that is uncommon but happens, more so with iron cladding, but it is unusual for knives with stainless cladding and a carbon core like White #2. If it is the knife, that should calm or stop once the carbon develops a patina.

That repair looks excellent Ronnie! I always blame the wife for things like that, not that it gets me anywhere but sleeping on the couch again....
