Re: I didn’t believe it.
Damn, dude. Nice job. :!: 4 grams of steel is quite a lot of metal, geez. For those of you also keeping score, that's about the weight of a typical 1/2 sized mini usb flash drive. For the older folks, it's a nickles worth in weight. How far are you into this project in hours removing metal? Good new...

Re: I didn’t believe it.
"I love the fishes 'cause they're so delicious." (name that jingle, without looking :D ) From the Goldfish snack crackers commercials in the 90's IIRC. We have a winner! Lol! Nice job, Jeff. 8-) Shiny - Jemaine Clement. Good guess, Colonel. Never heard it, so I gave it a listen. It's bett...

Re: I didn’t believe it.
My 300 arrived! NKD First impressions. 1) There is a macrobevel on the edge. Gonna take some time for me to grind past that. After having ground an equally intimidating macrobevel on my deba, may I suggest power tools? I don't think I'd do a good job with a belt sander, but after 5 hours with mine ...

Re: Kekoa gyuto started
Not yet. "Waiting to be moved from one facility to another," is the current rather ambiguous status. We'll see about tomorrow, but there doesn't seem to be a estimate on it's arrival any more. As long as it gets here eventually I'll be perfectly happy. Crazy postal workers cutting up. It'...

… Don't forget the knife pr0n, aporigine!  8-) Now you’ve done it, trancher. I’m craving some pr0n tempura. Heading out in a few to acquire aquatic arthropod awesomeness and absolutely add annular allium appetizers. I made the batter too thin, but otherwise heckyeah!! Note a sliver of ...

Re: Baking Much?
This is my first foray into the "Baking Much" thread! It is also the first time I have made english muffins. I have decided to try and make the ultimate breakfast sandwich and since there are no bakeries that make english muffins in my area I had to make them myself. I have to say that I ...

Re: What did you cook today?
Thank you. Oh yeah, very lamby. I don't find lamb particularly delicate but maybe that's just the lamb I buy at the international market. It's not mutton but it's strong. Understood. I guess my palate could be a little off from gamey tasting grass feed/finished beef. :D Pretty sure a big factor in ...

Re: What did you cook today?
Looks wonderful, Ronnie.
Love the delicate taste of lamb. Was that still present in the final product, or did the flavoring agents push that aside some?

Re: Welcome To Chefknivestogo Forums! Introduce Yourself!
I like shorter length knives. The gyuto is too long for me to master. I am thinking about getting a nakiri. Some says it is as good as gyuto for cutting meat. Any advice on nakiri ? I don't own one myself. I have a large CCK cleaver slicer that I use, though. A good number of people here like to us...

Re: Welcome To Chefknivestogo Forums! Introduce Yourself!
Hi, My name is Sabrina. I am a home cook . I just started using Japanese knives during Covid, when I stayed home and cooked a lot. I owned 3 knives, a Vg10 Santoku & a Sg2 bunka and a SLD petty . I am thinking of getting another SG2. Hey, Sabrina! Welcome to the forums! Sounds like you have 3 n...

Re: Your Preferred Two Knives Combo
(I admit here that I considered answering the op with a pic of a katana and a wakizashi, but decided that would have been a bit of a jerk move.) So, these two? https://www.chefknivestogo.com/mijakasw21.html https://www.chefknivestogo.com/minisword.html Hey, if you get those, I'd definitely recommen...
