Here's an up close of a Gillette DE(safety) razor that people like. It looks like it has a miniature hamon? I'd thought it might be an interesting to see the effects of their different machines/wheels and the edge itself.

Curious to know more about the different regions seen. Cool.
Is there a coating on the blade? Is this a stainless blade? (Then likely not a hamon? Or am i mistaken that its Carbon only?)

I don't look at enough of these type of magnifications to recognize the good and bad spots. It would be interesting to see a comparison of bunch of different ones under the microscope.

Crap! I forgot about this post. Sry guys.
I believe this razor was new. Don't know if there's a coating or not(could be what the wavy line is). Don't know which model. I got the picture in a sneaky way. I was watching 'How stuff is made'...and they were showing how these are done. During the show(on youtube) the above photo was offered for a few seconds, so I 'print screen'd' it.

Nice shots. It's interesting see up close edges of varying types. I'm still intrigued by the wavy line on the Gillette photo. Maybe a coating as Darkstar suggested.

Re: Gillette Safety Razor Up Close
the top photo it looks to be progressively finer grit machining operations...3 different bevels or facets...aebl was originally developed as a razorblade steel and believe this is still the most widely used type of steel
