Not sure it's a daily driver type of knife...
Yeah I saw people on another forum talking about potentially using it here and there. Beautiful piece but ornamental probably makes sense.

Very cool! How are you planning to use it? I'm curious, what are the patches that are a slightly different colour due to? I have those on my Konosuke SKD and always wondered. I'd assumed it was some type of patina that has formed before the knife got to me.
These are display pieces only. History and the maker are the reasons I bought them. If you are talking about the black then that is the forging carbon scale (kurouchi). Curious which forum you saw people discussing them?

I think I saw people discussing the top one on KKF.

This was the bit that looks very similar to a patch on my Kono:

I saw that. They were discussing a different knife by him. One of his yanagiba I think.

That nail is 1300 years old! I want one. I'm sure they're sold out long agol. It's amazing. Good purchase, mauichef, part of history! Were those even put up on the site? Probably sold out in 10 minutes. I never saw them.

Was able to purchase 3 new beautiful knives this month :)

Takamura Migaki R2 Petty 150mm - wanted a stainless petty because my Moritaka stains garlic / onion and gives a weird smell on citrus fruits.

Shiro Kamo R2 Damascus Gyuto 210mm - wanted a new 210mm Gyuto that was very thin behind the edge, also didn't have a Damascus finished knife yet.

Anryu Hammered Blue #2 Sujihiki 270mm - I didn't have a Sujihiki yet and these are pretty hard to come by. Couldn't resist and very happy with the purchase.

Nice haul and very logical justifications for the NEED to purchase.😁

Kamo R2 is a great knife. 1 of 2 that I now regret selling.

It is my Hawaii/Costa Rica/high humidity travel knife.

My first Japanese knife. Nothing fancy, but I'm getting a lot of enjoyment out of using it. Next up is a new cutting board.

These Misuzu's can get crazy sharp, ridiculously thin spine and are light as feather.

It's still the factory edge. I'm excited to see how it does after a sharpening.

Sorry for the recent photos guys. We just did a forum software update and that may have erased ones from the past few days.
