This one is pretty sweet. I like the juxtaposition of the old blade with the new handle

Royal ebony with Mokume. I’m sold in this ebony, wish I purchased a pallet of it. Had a difficult time taking a decent photo of the Mokume, this one should do

This is my latest shop knife. I’ve been using these Daovua as a fun way to learn new skills

You can practice by putting new scales on my Tojiro bread knife! ;)

Got hold of an old Mazaki and decided on this handle; nice balance for an all ebony handle.

It’s a stripped ebony body with a brown ebony ferrule, thin spalted hackberry for the spacer.

There are some benefits for an all wooden handle as the wood shrinks and swells with the seasons.

You're crushing it Joe. That burnt orange with blue spacer is particularly intriguing.

Do I really want to show this one? Hell no!!!!

When the owner reached out to me one of the first sentences was something like ‘these two knives are really special, they hold sentimental value’ followed some time later with something like ‘I trust you, you will take great care of them’

I tripped in my workshop and when I saw the result, I was literally in tears....

He was really kind, which I very much appreciated. He also taught me a valuable lesson - we are human, what’s really important are the people around us. I have always tried to be kind to everyone, to have compassion, love and understanding. Everyone has a story to tell, take some time and listen.

By the way, it was a killer handle.
