Nubatama Platinum 1K update

Post by branwell »

I mentioned that I would do an update once I got a little time on the stone and we are now a month or so in.

Other 1K ish stones I have include the Bester 1.2k, King's 800/1K/1.5K, Nubatama White 1.5K, Nubatama Ume 1K speckled, Chosera 800, Shapton GS 1K/2K, Green Brick 2k, and a few I cant remember of the top of my head.

I liked the NB P1K a lot the first time I used it and that like has only grown. Hard to believe for me but this is the only stone I have where I'm not loving it for a few of its qualities, but wishing it did something slightly differently. It really is for me a perfect 1k.

The feel is amazing, the feedback amazing, very close to a splash and go, minimal loading, slow wearing, and larger in size to most.

Really don't know what else I can add cept I plan to try some other stones in the P line, maybe a 4K or 6K. Anyone got one? How do you like it?

Thanks for the update I'm like you with a lot of 1K ish stones. I bought the 6K Platinum recently but haven't had a sharpening session yet. I asked my son to bring over the HD2 Gytuo I gave him to let me tough it up some. I need to try it soon but just for some light touch up on a few knives. I'll let you know when I get to it.

OMG. How could you have a new stone just sitting there unused. :)
