Well... I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. After 2 false starts with other versions I went and picked up the YS Mark put in closeouts this week. Surprise... I like it!
Just got done doing some carrots. Lots, and lots, and lots of carrots and for once I didn't hate cutting carrots. Slid right through and I like the profile... generous flat spot toward the heel. Length and height are very similar to my Kashima... the YS of course is a stiffer and more robust knife.
This is going to slide into my usage very nicely...
More to follow but quite the nice start.
Finally found a Kono I like.

Re: Finally found a Kono I like.
Congrats on your purchase. I have the very, very similar SKD and it has become one of my absolute favourites, including vs. my Shibata as you describe too. Great choice and I hope you continue to enjoy it!

Hd2 and YS the only 2 Konos I kept so far, I wish Fujiyama FM comes with stainless clad/semi stainless versions as well, my work environment just don’t allowed full reactive carbon.
