Missed out on the AS gyuto and the nakiri. Had the nakiri in my cart, but before I could finish filling in the order info, it was sold out. Darn it all to heck. Never did see the AS gyuto showing instock, no matter how much I refresed it.

We had 2 customers that got shorted. Our database just can't take things out of stock fast enough if the orders are placed within a second of each other.

Sorry if you lost out. In these cases, I always will offer to reserve the knife and send it as soon as we get more.

My apologies. I feel bad when this happens.

Pretty sure he did. I got an email saying they were in stock, but they were out by the time I checked. In fact I had been checking before I noticed the email. He only got 3 of them in, so they went in a blink! Darn it all to heck, in a hand basket even!

Not your fault. I'm not in a rush for a nakiri. Actually, I'm not in a rush for any of these knives. Well, I do want an AS gyuto, but that is just how quick can I be.

What slowed me down was I wanted to add the finish sharpening for the two knives in my cart, so had to go find that, then change it to 2 sharpenings, and by then, the nakiri was sold out and removed from my cart. I then needed to go change the sharpenings back to 1. Guess I was lucky the Damascus gyuto hadn't sold out by then.

I think you have to sign up for the email each time. It will tell you, when you put your email in, if you are already in the database to get an email. Try it now! I'm sure going to put my name in, again just to make sure.

Translating spelling from one lanuage to another is difficult. So, googling around I found this
The words Ao and Shiro mean blue and white.
Gami means metal.
The numbers 1 and 2 are grade differences. It all has to do with the carbon content and the alloy content.

Shirogami Steel

The white paper steel is super pure. It has very low alloy content and high carbon. It is super for Hamon blades.
I'd put the link in to, but I think it is another knife seller, so no soap.

So, different spelling?

Oh, side note, see bob_m, this is how you get your post count up!

Fully aware of what Aogami and Shirogami is and the differences in 1&2 of each steel. Was poking a little at Mark for what was obviously a simple spelling error. We do that around here. ;)

Well Mr. B., you didn't use the sarcasm tags, so how was I to know that you were poking fun at Mark? Come on, I'm not a mind reader, dontcha know? As an aside, I didn't know about Shirogami steel, or Shirokami. There is even Eight Pioneer Planning Shirokami Kodama Dry Yeast G 5g for sale on Amazon, which I didn't know about either. I think an ocean could be filled with what I don't know. And that is understatement.

Take care, have fun, and keep on trucking.
