My Anryu Kurouchi Damascus Gyuto 240mm just arrived. Beautiful. Plus, UPS delivered on the day they said they would with no changing of the date! Three day delivery for 2053 miles.
You can blame Mr. Suburban for my being here.

LucaBrasi wrote: Fri Apr 02, 2021 9:00 am Man this community is so funny. Back when I was all in from like 2010 to 2016 or so Anryu was highly respected but very attainable. One of those that got a lot of recommendations that I feel many didn’t heed in favor of other trendier knives. Myself I got an AS 300mm sujihiki a bunch of years back when I started doing a lot of brisket and determined my carbonext wasn’t up to it.

I then tried to sell it a couple years ago when I was strapped for cash while closing on my house, but there were no bites.

Have to say, now that they are seemingly unattainable I am very glad no one bought and I hung on to it. Some of the best steel in the knife industry.
I remember that period Luca. Could never understand it. That 240 blue hammered I have is unparalleled when it comes to yams and root vegetables and awfully good at everything else.

Somewhere in the archives of the old forum I did a side by side with photos of the Anryu vs every other knife I owned trying to chop through a sweet potato without forcing. The Anryu was the only one that got through all the way.

Great knives. I have 3 of his and I'm glad I bought every one of them.

And, of course, you get in the Anryu Blue #2 Hammered Gyuto 240mm today. I just can't afford it. Spent too much already this month. Sigh, I hope I'll be ready when you get some AS Anryus in again.

I’m glad to get another 240, mine suffered serious damage from a relative. Incredible knives.

I should just thank you all for buying them so quickly! I had to go for a long walk to avoid tempation, and to keep my bank talking with me.

I missed out on one. I received the email, but had a physical therapy appointment. By the time I finished, they were sold out. Hopefully, there will be more available later.

According to knifewear, Ikeda is now officially a 5th gen Anryu Hamono, passed down from 4th gen Katsushige Anryu. We can expect more knives coming out from Anryu Hamono, now that Ikeda can officially stamp all of the knives he made or in charge in making under Anryu Hamono brand.

Anryu is not doing anymore in front of the hot forge. He might still do some finishing, straightening or maybe cold forging.

Yeah this makes sense, that is why the character stamping went from 4 to three. Curious to see if there will be any design differences between the two.

These came today. I'll have them in stock later this afternoon.

Oops false alarm. We have some coming end of the week. I got confused with today's shipment.
