Tojiro VG1 for a gift? you can save 30 bucks but its a cheap handle with plastic ferrule, you don't want to give a cheap handled gift. You like what you have, so send one of those.
Blade protectors are only 5 bucks... but only used if knife stuck in a drawer with other knives...Ask for one when you order it and maybe the blade protector fairy will send you one for free.

If I gift my son one of the Tojiros I have several handles that I can use to replace the cheap handle.

Steve forgot to mention it would be for a gift.
I don’t want to try to change a handle.

Bob, knife fairy that pretty funny.
Would add one to order on the next go.
Not sure if I should get another of the Masutani or the Mac for a gift.
I think the Mac might be easier to clean wash.
But if I get another Masutani I get the small one.
Actually have to get two for gift sister and neighbor.

I ordered 2 more knifes, they are to give away late mother day present. I would blame they are coming from Japan :-)
I post pics once they get here.

well,
The knifes arrived.

Left Masutani VG1 180, middle Masutani VG10 165 and MAC

I kept the 180, the other two I gave away as gifts.

I did not spend much time with the 165 to compare them, but the MAC does feel the best on the hand as the handle is heavier and it look much better in person.

side note: The MAC box does look and feel more premium.

Thanks everyone.
