I have a friend with one of these that I"m certain is in excellent condition (he's a home cook who doesn't cook much and has multiple knives and I know he doesn't use this one very often because it is a bit longer than he prefers). However, I'm pretty sure his was sold under the other (Richmond?) name. As Delmar wrote above - and he is exactly right - this knife sold under a different name on CKTG until Mark got permission to use the company's name—there was absolutely no change in the product, safe for kanji, when that occurred from everything I've seen over the years. I would be extremely leery if others reported some major difference between a "Mark" brand and the other in this case given the history.
If you had an interest in it, I could ask my friend. He has mentioned considering selling it before because he doesn't really use it.
