Upon mine honour, no soul doth saith roiling, unless ye be from Massachusetts or some other foreign land!

Re: What did you cook today?

I'm not sure but I think I backed into another keto-friendly dinner tonight, though this one required fewer steps than last night's Keto Meat Pie . . . http://www.ronniesuburban.com/photos/food/homecooking/hangersteakdinner/hangers.20.0730.03.oysters.jpg Sauteed Golden Oyster Mushrooms This was sup...

Re: Looking for Family Gyuto/Santoku or Kiritsuke and a Petty

Welcome to the forum Foxblade :) Here's a $99 western Shigeki Tanaka 180mm that might work as your do-all. I've got the 210 sibling while it was in stock (you ought to ask, really). I find it to be terrific. Thick at the shoulders, and really shrugs off most foods easily, while being aggressively gr...

Re: What did you cook today?

YES! Going up a level, as you say, is what I've been feeling throughout this experiment in regime-change :D All these past two weeks I've been wearing a long-face for having cooking out of my (Mediterranean, balanced, oiled) comfort zone (and straight into my wife's Helvetic, buttered, creamy one! :...

Do you have a recipe or some approximate proportions you can share (especially for the dough)? Thanks! I'll pm you the whole thing so you can try, tweak, and take over ๐Ÿ˜Ž LOL - thanks. Don't know about taking over but if you send it, I'll cook it! Please excuse me! after "try" and "tweak" I ju...

Re: What did you cook today?

Food for hot weather indeed! This Saturday we had some friends over, so I thought I might go ahead and give the mock tender another go, this time without both pan-searing it and oven-blasting it for the first 15 minutes. Turned out much better this time! IMG_20200725_095625045.jpg Mock-tender dry-ro...

Just a quick bowl with whatever was in the fridge - which happened to include a bit of leftover Prince mushrooms and a couple scallops. Mmmm.
One could almost think that eat at an end-grain table, and your only eating utensil is a Kono, and glass of wine ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚

Finally got me some yu kurosaki fujin action! I wanted a bigger knife in this line but I already just bought the Tanaka sooo I figured I still needed a petty! And here it is. Quite happy with it Looks like you've put off etching that Tanaka in favor of enjoying the color-play! Nice shot. Do you cut...

Thank god I didn't see this! I would have been all over it and my wife would have castrated me with it. I'm on a knife buying restriction until 2034. I so wish I had bought an FT when they were available. Konos YS, FT, and FM all sold within the last couple of days.... Ufff! Glad their gone ...

Harukaze is a helluva knife for the money. Good profile, decent flat spot and nice rendition of ginsan. Handle is plain, but nicer than it looks online.
With the Kiritsuke he's looking at it's got more than just a decent flatspot ;)
It seems like a terrific deal

Re: What's your current go to knife?

Current 'go to' is an even split between a Misono dragon 240 and a Wat SS clad 225. Love them both equally for entirely different reasons. Say a word about your Wat 225, will you? I've THIS close to order one just a month ago, and opted for something else. Tell me, please, what I missed out on :P

Thank you for writing so translucently. It really helps. That being said, David, the whole "pertinent information" part of your post screams, " The sizes available works for me , if they are to intimidating for her..."   Ok, so you say that a) her technique is likely poor b) she'll b...

Re: What did you cook today?

I've found that adding some "riced" cauliflower or finely-ground pork rinds can somewhat replicate the breadcrumbs that are often included in conventional meatball recipes and lighten their texture, while keeping it keto-friendly. Thanks, Ronnie! Yes, I think I've seen that riced cauliflower making...

Re: What did you cook today?

Well, Today I made Chicken Masala, according to some Keto recipe. Chicken breasts, butter, spices, coconut cream, a red bell pepper and a dash parsley for garnish.
