Re: Which Stones??? (a tip for novice)

Ok, I have a problem. I used my 220 grit, seeing that it did not sharpen my scandi knife uniformly, I checked and it was to be lapped. I bought 80 grit sandpaper and lapped. Now the stone is flat, but I feel the surface smooth and no longer eat the steel of the knives. What happened? I have to buy a...

Re: Which Stones??? (a tip for novice)

I'm just wondering if there are non-combo models. I am terrified that the combos will break or crack.

Re: Which Stones??? (a tip for novice)

So I buy Naniwa Traditional stones or Kink?

I ask one more thing, I would like to reset the bevel to my razor and I was thinking of starting with a 1K,
then I don't know whether to go to Coticule (Le Grise) or buy an intermediate grain stone (5k).
Would 5k be essential?

Re: Which Stones??? (a tip for novice)

Welcome to the forum. I have not used Skerper, but have King and Naniwa. For your needs, take a look at a quality 800 stone. Have a look at the https://www.japanesenaturalstones.com/jns-800-matukusuyama/,JNS 800 Matukusuyama stone << from JNS, a European based retailer. https://www.japanesenaturals...

Re: Which Stones??? (a tip for novice)

I live in Europe, more precisely in Italy. As a last stone 1000 seems sensible to me. At this point I just have to select the brand of stones. As mentioned in the first post, I am undecided between King, Naniwa traditional / Skerper and at this point Cerax, but the Cerax really cost a lot, consideri...

Which Stones??? (a tip for novice)

Hello, I have a tremendous doubt about buying sharpening stones. First I list my main knives and their steel: Morakniv Companion stainless steel (Sandvik12C27), Glock 81 carbon steel (AISI 1095), Cold Steel Finn Wolf stainless steel (Japanese AUS8A Stainless), none of them exceed 58 HRC. It is clear...
