I'm assuming a 240? Are you in a hurry or would you be willing to wait for something to come back in stock?

Re: Factory Edge Micro-chipping
Thanks Ken and Greg for your input & responses. I guess that given this is AS & thin behind the edge, I was hoping it to be pretty much like any number of my other knives (including others in AS). Hence my choice of 10dps & a start on the 1k & I wasn't expecting to get down to the #...

Re: Twice in one week!
About 4 months ago I was officially banned from sharpining my wife's knives. She had cut herself twice in a week. Her knives are now getting too dull so she asked me if I could half sharpen her knives
. I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to do such a thing?

I think some probably just bask in the glory of their collections (I'm looking at you Ray
). At least that's what I would be doing.

Re: Stove/Range died - Recommendations?
So my stove/range - that thing with the oven and burners - just died. :x I was baking some potatoes and it switched to self cleaning all by its lonesome; didn't even lock the oven door. And wouldn't turn off! Had to hit the circuit breaker to get it to stop. Take out tonight! Plus that lingering sm...

It took me too long to figure out that longer is better for rocking. I'm an old dog I guess.
240 gyuto with some belly (ie a high tip). Other than that it depends on the answers to the questionnaire above.

Re: knife handle from scratch
Looks like I have another project. I just received the same knife. Thought I would like to try a D shaped handle and I was wrong. Its seems pretty straightforward and even if I screw it up its not a lot of cash outlay.
Nice handle BTW.

This is a good source. It is where I started. The best part is the graph of magnet sizes. Enjoy!

Re: Magnetic Knife Block
This leaves me with a 1/2 by 1/2 groove the length of the mag bar. I then take a 1/2 by 1/2 square steel tube, cut it to length and drill holes to allow it to be mounted to the wall. 63735250502__A4E5391B-EF18-45A9-8D3C-ABB21B9CE1D1.JPG The mag bar can then be placed over the tube and is held in pl...

Re: Magnetic Knife Block
A wall hanger I made several years ago. It has continuous magnets and routed keyholes in the back to mount it. Problem is it only holds about a 1/4 of the knives I own. I need a few more and the wall space to hang them. 20210313_155938.jpg Very nice. One row of magnets in it? I ask, cause I've seen...

I thought there were no secrets on the forum.
I purchased my magnets from Jobmaster Magnets up here in Canada. Im sure you can source them in the US of A and likely for less.
These are what I used.

Re: Magnetic Knife Block
This was my first attempt and I am pleased with the results. I like that there are no fasteners visible. BTW thats my forum special upper left. Very nice. Are you using two magnets per knife? I wanted the flexibility of placing knives anywhere along the length of the mag bar so I routed a 1/2 inch ...
